The Premature Burial
Gaffer, "Reporter," and "Killer"

Based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, the plot of this short film centers around an unnamed protagonist afflicted with catalepsy, a disorder which can cause her to fall into trances barely distinguishable from death. Due to her condition, the main character is deeply afraid of being buried alive, and this fear is brought to a breaking point one night while watching a news broadcast about an at-large serial killer in her area. The main character takes extensive safety precautions and tries to stay awake to protect herself but soon starts seeing ominous shadows and can't be sure if they are real or hallucinations. Shortly after midnight, she attempts to fall asleep, but is soon woken from a terrifying nightmare to a noise coming from outside her bedroom door. When she attempts to investigate, her emotional distress causes her to fall into a cataleptic paralysis. Conscious but unable to move, she is helpless as the killer enters the room. The killer checks for responsiveness, or any signs of life, and finds none. A person who is already dead cannot be buried alive, so the killer leaves the main character exactly as she was. Her unlucky condition has saved her from the fate she feared most. Created December 2024.
The Lovers

In a short film inspired by the work of artist René Magritte, two young lovers are taken hostage, blindfolded, and restrained. Unbeknownst to Liam and Kaitlin, someone is determined to recreated Magritte's painting with live subjects. The film follows the short span of time beginning as the main characters wake up and realize their situation, until the 90 second countdown hits zero in a twisted mind game constructed by their captor. Created November 2024.
